并列连词主要是用来表示并列关系、转折关系、选择关系、因果推理关系等。并列连词用来连接属于同一层次并具有相同句法功能的词、短语或句子。
常见的并列连词有：表并列关系：and,neither...nor....,either...or..., as well as , not only ...but also...表转折关系：but,yet,however,still,while表选择关系:either...or...,neither...nor...,or,otherwise表因果关系：for,therefore,so
注意：并列连词for引导的分句只能放在句尾，前面用逗号隔开，表示补充说明的微弱理由，只是为前面的内容提供判断的理由，有时译为并列的某种形式。这与because不同，because引导的是一种明确的因果关系，解释原因，常可回答why的提问。
