wait主要用作不及物动词，常与介词for连用。用作及物动词通常用来指耐心地“等、等待”。在这种用法中其宾语仅限于hour, time, turn, return, arrival, opportunity, chance, orders, a fine day, aid, the，result, the signal等名词。

I'll wait outside until the meeting's over.
