raise只用作及物动词，接名词、代词作宾语，偶尔也接以“to be+ n./adj.”充当补足语的复合宾语。raise作及物动词和宾补动词，有提升，养育，筹集等含义。也可用作名词，有增加，高处，举起等含义。
1.提升；举起；提起
如：She raised her eyes from her work.
她停下工作，抬起头看了看。
2.（使）直立，站立
如：He raised himself up on one elbow.
他用一只胳膊肘支起身子。
3.增加，提高（数量、水平等）
如：How can we raise standards in schools?
我们怎样才能提高学校的水平？
4.筹募；征集；召集；组建
如：We are raising money for charity.
我们在进行慈善募捐。
5.提及；提起（课题）
如：The book raises many important questions.
这本书提出了许多重要问题。
6.引起；导致；使出现
如：The horses' hooves raised a cloud of dust.
马蹄翻飞，扬起一片尘土。
7. 抚养；养育；培养
如：They were both raised in the South.
他们俩都是在南方长大的。
8.（通过无线电或电话）与...取得联系，和...通话
如：We managed to raise him on his mobile phone.
我们打他的移动电话，总算找到了他。
9.使起死回生；使复活
如：Christians believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
基督教徒相信上帝让耶稣死而复生。
