put既可用作不及物动词，也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时，后接名词或代词作宾语。也可接双宾语，其间接宾语可以转化为介词to/for的宾语。有时还可接以形容词、副词或介词短语充当补足语的复合宾语。
1.放；安置
如：Put the cases down there, please.
请把箱子搁在那边。
2.猛推；用力插入
如：He put his fist through a glass door.
他把拳头伸进了玻璃门。
3.将...送往；使...前往
如：Her family put her into a nursing home.
她的家人把她送进了一家疗养院。
4.使与...连接；安装
如：We had to put new locks on all the doors.
我们只好把所有的门都安上新锁。
5.（在...上）书写，记，做标记
如：I couldn't read what she had put.
她写的什么我辨认不出来。
6.使处于（某状态或情况）
如：I was put in charge of the office.
他们让我负责管理这个办公室。
7.使感觉到；使受到...的影响
如：Her new job has put a great strain on her.
她的新工作使她感到负担很重。
8.给予（重视、信任、价值等）
如：Our company puts the emphasis on quality.
我们公司重视质量
