pass可作名词和动词，作“通过，经过，穿过”时，既可用作及物动词，也可用作不及物动词。用作不及物动词时常和副词搭配使用；用作及物动词时接名词或代词作宾语。作“传递”时，只用作及物动词，可接双宾语，其间接宾语可转化为介词to的宾语。

如：I hailed a passing taxi.

2.沿某方向前进；向某方向移动
如：The procession passed slowly along the street.
队伍沿街缓缓行进。
3.给；递；传递
如：Pass that book over.
请把那本书递过来。
4.（球类运动) 传球
如：Why do they keep passing back to the goalie?
他们为什么总是把球回传给守门员？
5.转移给，遗留给（继承人等）
如：On his death, the title passed to his eldest son.
他死后，封号传给长子。
6.（数量) 大于；超过
如：Unemployment has now passed the three million mark.
失业人口现已突破三百万大关。
7.转变；变化；过渡
如：She had passed from childhood to early womanhood.
她已由孩童变成青年女子。
8.及格；合格
如：I'm not really expecting to pass first time.
